City Boy Movement Will Deliver Landslide Victory for Tinubu in 2027 – Akpabio
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence that the City Boy Movement will play a decisive role in securing a resounding re-election victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Akpabio made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving a delegation of the City Boy Movement on a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja. He praised the group’s commitment and patriotism, describing it as a growing national force dedicated to mobilising support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid.
According to the Senate President, the movement has already begun to make its presence felt across the country, saying its influence is spreading like a powerful wind.
“The City Boy Movement is like a wind blowing across the nation. You may not see it, but you can feel it. Every political party in Nigeria is already feeling the impact of the City Boy Movement,” he said.
Akpabio noted that the movement would help ensure adequate polling unit representation during the next general election, arguing that stronger grassroots mobilisation would prevent votes from going unaccounted for.
He urged members to remain focused on voter education, mobilisation and sensitisation across the country, while dismissing anticipated criticisms from political opponents.
“When the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is announced in 2027, some people will claim the election was rigged. Ignore such allegations and remain focused on your mission,” he told the delegation.
The Senate President also encouraged the youths to view their participation in the movement as an opportunity to prepare themselves for future leadership roles, stressing that political engagement should be rooted in discipline, patriotism and national service rather than violence, cultism or drug abuse.
As Grand Patron of the movement, Akpabio assured members of the support of the National Assembly, saying the Senate appreciates young Nigerians who have chosen what he described as the path of responsible civic engagement.
Earlier, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Shoga, said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with lawmakers and seeking continued guidance as the organisation expands its activities nationwide.
Shoga said the movement intends to deepen civic participation among young Nigerians through voter education, community mobilisation and programmes designed to promote national development while supporting President Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.
