Yobe Governor’s Aide, Babagana Yakubu, Dumps APC for ADC

Hon. Babagana Yakubu Mohammed, a Senior Special Assistant to Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Baba Malam Wali, and made available to journalists in Damaturu on Sunday, Babagana cited marginalisation and frustration with the party’s leadership as reasons for his departure.

“Please accept this letter as my formal resignation as Senior Special Assistant to Governor Buni, effective immediately,” he wrote.

Babagana lamented the neglect of committed grassroots members by the APC, stating that despite his loyalty and hard work during elections, his contributions had been ignored.

“My efforts at the grassroots level have been consistently disregarded. I have remained loyal and dedicated, yet the leadership at both the local and state levels has continued to sideline me,” he said.

He described the decision to leave as painful but inevitable, pointing to what he termed the party’s repeated neglect of its most committed members.

“I deeply regret the suddenness of this announcement, but due to unavoidable circumstances, I am left with no choice,” he added.

Expressing further disappointment, Babagana accused the APC-led government in Yobe of failing to live up to its promises and losing touch with the people’s needs.

“As someone who once strongly believed in the ideals of our party, it saddens me to witness how our government has failed to deliver on its promises. This has led to growing discontent and a loss of public trust,” he noted.

Babagana also criticised the leadership’s lack of vision in addressing the pressing challenges facing the state.

Despite his grievances, he extended his gratitude to Governor Buni for the opportunity to serve and wished him success in steering the affairs of the state.

“I thank Governor Buni for the privilege to serve and wish him well as he continues to lead the state,” he concluded.
