Headline: DSS cancels Awujale meet-and-greet, seals palace

Security operatives have sealed off the Awujale Palace following the cancellation of a scheduled “meet-and-greet” with nominees for the Awujale stool by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The meeting, which was to hold on Wednesday morning at the Aafin Awujale, was called off by the DSS, with all nominees now directed to report to the Service’s office in Ijebu-Ode by 11:00 a.m.

The directive was conveyed in a letter dated January 21, 2026, signed by the Secretary of the Awujale Afobaje Council, Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja.

According to the letter, nominees were formally notified that the palace meeting had been cancelled and instructed to comply strictly with the new arrangement by appearing at the DSS office as scheduled.

Meanwhile, Prompt News reported that security agents have taken over the Awujale Palace, restricting access as developments surrounding the selection process continue to unfold.
