WAEC and JAMB Should Stop Discouraging Exceptional Students – Amb. Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies
Amb. Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, a former presidential candidate, has urged West African Examination Council, WAEC and Joint Admission and Matriculations Board, JAMB to reevaluate its policies and stop discouraging exceptional students.
Amb. Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, a lecturer of four decades, and Professor of Applied linguistics at Department of English and Communication Arts, Faculty of Humanities, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Port Harcourt, Rivers State, made the appeal in a statement issued by her Special Assistant/ Public Relations, Iquo Halo Eton.
The statement reads: “I call on WAEC and JAMB to revisit its policies and ensure they are flexible and inclusive, allowing exceptional students like Miss Aminu to thrive and reach their full potential. By doing so, we can unlock the doors of opportunity and empower the next generation of Nigerian leaders to excel globally”.
Adesanya, while congratulating Miss Nafisat Abdullah Aminu, a 17-year-old Nigerian girl, who has won the Global English Award at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, UK, described her achievement has remarkable “a testament to her exceptional talent, dedication, and hard work”.
She outshone over 20,000 participants from 69 countries, showcasing exceptional command of the English language and communication skills. Nafisat is a student of the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) in Yobe State.
