Troops rescue abducted victims in Kebbi in major security breakthrough

In a heartening development, security forces on Sunday successfully rescued several abducted persons in Kebbi State, marking a significant victory in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and banditry in the region.

According to military sources, the rescue operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the whereabouts of the captives. Troops launched a coordinated offensive on the kidnappers’ hideout, engaging the armed group in a brief but intense confrontation that forced the abductors to flee, leaving the victims behind.

The number and identities of the rescued persons have not yet been disclosed, as authorities say they are undergoing medical evaluation and debriefing. However, officials confirmed that all those freed are in stable condition.

Residents in the affected communities expressed relief and gratitude, commending the troops for their swift and decisive action. Local leaders also called for sustained security operations to prevent further attacks and ensure lasting peace.

State authorities are expected to issue an official statement once full details of the operation are compiled.

The successful rescue comes amid increasing pressure on security agencies to curb the rising wave of abductions across parts of northern Nigeria.
