Tinubu Urges Sacrifice, Unity as Muslims Celebrate Eid-el-Kabir
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, urging citizens to embrace sacrifice, compassion, unity, and faith as the nation continues its journey of economic recovery and renewal.
In his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message, the President congratulated Muslim faithful on witnessing the festival, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, and reflected on the virtues exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, including obedience, selflessness, and devotion to God.
Tinubu said the celebration serves as a reminder for Nigerians to show mercy and compassion to one another regardless of ethnic, religious, or social differences.
The President noted that his administration’s reforms, though difficult, were necessary to reposition the country for long-term prosperity and stability.
According to him, the sacrifices made by Nigerians over the past three years have begun to yield positive economic outcomes, making Nigeria a more attractive investment destination capable of creating jobs and stimulating growth.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” Tinubu stated, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms would continue to improve security and expand opportunities for citizens.
He also acknowledged continued security challenges in parts of the country despite efforts by security agencies, including the reported elimination of a wanted ISIS leader.
The President assured affected communities that they had not been abandoned, pledging that terrorists and bandits would ultimately be defeated.
Tinubu called on Muslims to use the Eid period to pray for peace, national unity, and wisdom for leaders, while also encouraging citizens to support the less privileged and strengthen bonds of brotherhood.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture, and human capital development to build a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
The President concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration, praying that Allah accepts the sacrifices and prayers of the faithful.
“Eid Mubarak! Happy Sallah!” he said.
