The Real Reason Senate Is After Hamid Alli.

Ordinarily one would look at the manner the Senate ferociously engaged the Nigerian  Customs Service (NCS) over some lapses in its operations and excesses of some orbits officers as another plus for the National Assembly members who are fighting for the people they represent.

But it is only the un-informed that will buy into such view. This is the same Senate that looks the other way as telecommunications providers fleece Nigerians with the provision of poor services.  This is also the same NASS that continues to allow DSTV to defraud Nigerians.

This same NASS also looks unconcerned even when a court has slammed Nigerian Bottling Company that the popular sift drinks -Fanta and Sprite,are dangerous to human health. Indeed  In many instances, It is on record that the NASS is never known to side with the Nigerian people on issues bothering on welfare.

So why the sudden  love?  The truth is many of the NASS members have personal axes to grind with NCS Comptroller-General,Hamid Ali and the recent misbehavior of some of his operative in Sango and Abeokuta was just  excuse to hammer him.

Apart from the refusal of Ali to pander to the numerous ignoble wishes of the NASS members in the area of staff recruitment and import duty waivers,authoritative sources claims one of the most vocal senators is bent on cowing Ali so as to actualise his plan of bringing in 300 assorted cars from Lome and Cotonou.

Sources claimed the Senator wants to distribute the cars and 200 motorcycles in a ‘father of empowerment programme’ he planned for  later in 2017. The senator from South West plans to use the empowerment programme to flag off his much troubled gubernatorial ambition.

He is said to have committed huge sums into mobilising smugglers to bring in the cars to be used for that purpose.  Interestingly,  the customs has outlawed importation of used cars thruough the land borders but he is determined to bend the rules to achieve his goal.

Another source also added that many of the NASS members were unhappy with the way men of the NCS seized the trailers load of rice they were ordered smuggled in during the last yuletide.   Hence the vituperation by the NASS members was just a smoke screen to get Hamid Ali and NCS to bow to pressures to attain certain evil motives
