Public Outcry as NGO Condemns Appointment of Mandy Kiss as Lagos Drug Abuse Ambassador

A wave of outrage has followed the recent appointment of controversial social media personality, Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, as an ambassador for the Lagos State Kicks Against Drug Abuse (LASKADA) initiative.

The Prof Mercy Ade-Davies International Foundation (PMADIF), a notable Nigerian NGO focused on education, health, and gender advocacy, has issued an open press statement condemning the decision by Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, to publicly associate the state government with Mandy Kiss.

Mandy Kiss had recently drawn widespread criticism after announcing her intention to attempt a Guinness World Record by engaging in sexual activity with 100 men in a single day in Ikorodu, Lagos — a proposal that was firmly rejected by the Guinness organization, which stated that it does not monitor such records.

Despite the backlash and moral concerns, Mr. Ogunlende, in a viral video dated September 30, 2025, announced Mandy Kiss as a new ambassador for the state’s anti-drug abuse campaign, citing her “significant influence” among Nigerian youth.

“She has agreed to become one of our LASKADA ambassadors. We believe in guiding influencers like her rather than dismissing them,” Ogunlende said.

However, the decision has drawn strong opposition. In her official statement, Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, Chairman of PMADIF, called the move “an insult to the very essence of what ambassadorship stands for”, citing Mandy Kiss’s “reckless glorification of sexual immorality and vulgarity.”

Key Points from the PMADIF Statement:

Ambassadorship Should Reflect Honor, Not Infamy: The foundation asserts that Mandy Kiss lacks the values required of a public ambassador and role model.

Moral Threat to Public Order: The statement warns that her planned stunt could lead to public disorder and health risks, referencing petitions for her arrest by traditional leaders including the Eselu of Iselu Kingdom, Oba Ebenezer Akinyemi.

Negative Influence on Youth: With a digital following of over 400,000, Mandy Kiss is seen as a dangerous role model whose elevation may promote indecency as a viable path to fame.

Damage to Lagos’ Global Image: PMADIF warns that such state endorsements risk bringing international ridicule and undermining Lagos’s cultural and moral identity.

The NGO’s Demands:

The foundation is calling on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, the Ministry of Information and Strategy, and security agencies to:

Publicly disassociate the state from Mandy Kiss and her recent ventures.

Revoke any ambassadorship or endorsement involving her name.

Arrest Mandy Kiss for public indecency and investigate the legality of her proposed public acts.

Launch a moral reorientation campaign to uplift youth role models based on “dignity, excellence, and creativity.”

A Tipping Point in Social Media Influence?

The controversy underscores a growing tension in Nigeria between digital celebrity culture and traditional societal values. While some argue that influencers can be “reformed and redirected,” critics warn that rewarding scandal with state endorsement sets a dangerous precedent.

As the debate continues, all eyes remain on the Lagos State Government’s next steps. Will it stand by the appointment or respond to mounting public pressure?

For now, the PMADIF’s position is clear:

“Mandy Kiss cannot and must not be an ambassador of Lagos, LASKADA, or Nigeria.”
