Maiduguri Explosion: Tinubu Approves More Military Support, Issues Fresh Directives

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the recent suicide bomb explosions in Maiduguri, describing the attacks as desperate attempts by terrorists to instill fear amid sustained pressure from Nigerian security forces.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the President expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his sympathies to the injured, while standing in solidarity with the people of Borno State during what he described as a difficult period.

Tinubu stressed that the attacks were signs of weakening terrorist elements facing relentless operations by the military and other security agencies across the country. He assured Nigerians that his administration would continue to intensify efforts to eliminate all forms of criminality.

The President commended the bravery of the armed forces for successfully repelling coordinated attacks on military positions in the state, noting that both military personnel and civilian task forces remain resolute in confronting insurgents.

Highlighting recent government actions, Tinubu revealed that he had approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies during a high-level meeting with intelligence chiefs. He added that the deployment of these resources is already underway.

As part of immediate response measures, the President directed top security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations and ensure the situation is brought under control. He also ordered emergency agencies to provide adequate medical care and support for victims of the blasts.

Reaffirming his administration’s stance, Tinubu declared that no part of Nigeria would serve as a safe haven for terrorists, vowing that security forces would track, confront, and ultimately defeat them.

“Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” the President stated, reiterating his commitment to restoring peace and security nationwide.
