King Sunny Ade loses wife, hours to 75th birthday

Less than 24 hours to his 75th birthday celebration, music legend, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, fondly called King Sunny Ade (KSA), has lost one of his wives who is also an ex-lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable (Mrs) Risikat Adegeye.
The ex-lawmaker died early on Tuesday, 21 September 2021. She was aged 62.
The cause of her death had yet to be made known or confirmed by her family as of the time of publishing this report, even though an unconfirmed report stated that Mrs Adegeye might have died of cancer.
A source said: “We lost the wife of Juju maestro, King Sunny Ade, Hon Risikat Adegeye. She died this morning in Lagos. May her soul rest in perfect peace.”
It will be recalled that Honourable Risikat Adegeye was a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and was a two-time member of the Assembly Service Commission.
Adegeye represented Amuwo-Odofin Constituency 1 in the 7th Assembly in the Lagos State House of Assembly between 2011 and 2015.
Hon Adegeye was one of the leaders of Amuwo-Odofin and her voice was very strong and influential in the area.
Her marriage to KSA reportedly produced six male children.
A formal statement announcing her death was being expected as of publication time.
