Just In: Atiku rules out consensus in ADC 2027 Presidential Race

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared that no aspirant in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will be compelled to step down ahead of the party’s 2027 presidential contest.

Atiku made this known while speaking on the party’s internal democratic process, stressing that all interested presidential hopefuls will be given equal opportunity to present themselves for the race.

According to him, the ADC remains committed to openness, fairness, and internal democracy, rejecting any form of imposition or forced consensus.

He emphasized that the party’s leadership is determined to allow party members decide the flagbearer through a transparent and credible process, rather than backroom arrangements.

Atiku added that the freedom for all aspirants to contest would strengthen the party and enhance its chances in the 2027 general elections.

The former Vice President’s position comes amid growing political realignments and speculations over possible consensus candidates across opposition parties ahead of 2027.

His statement signals the ADC’s resolve to distinguish itself as a platform driven by democratic values and inclusiveness.

Political observers believe the stance could attract more aspirants and supporters to the party, while setting the stage for a highly competitive presidential primary within the ADC.
