Hon. Sadiq Abdullahi resigns from PDP over party crisis and factionalism

A member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Sadiq Abdullahi, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing deepening internal divisions and a lack of clear direction within the party.
Abdullahi, who represents the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State and serves as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), made his resignation public in a letter addressed to his ward chairman and shared with the press on Monday.
According to the lawmaker, his decision was driven by prolonged factional disputes within the PDP, which he says have hindered his ability to effectively represent his constituents and perform his legislative duties.
“The persistent internal conflicts and factionalisation within the PDP, which have culminated in a prolonged party crisis, are adversely affecting my ability to effectively represent my constituency and perform my duties optimally,” Abdullahi stated.
His exit comes shortly after the resignation of the party’s former National Secretary, S.K.E Udeh Okoye, further highlighting the internal turmoil facing the PDP.
Abdullahi noted that the move followed wide consultations with stakeholders and political allies, and was intended to ensure continued, impactful representation for the people of Sabon Gari beyond partisan affiliations.
“I wish to sincerely thank the PDP for the privilege and opportunity to serve under its platform. The support, trust, and experiences I have gained during my time with the party have been invaluable,” he added.
