FCT Chief Judge Commends Wike for his unwavering commitment to judicial welfare
The Honourable Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf, has lauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, CON, for his unwavering commitment to judicial welfare and infrastructural development during the official flag-off ceremony for the design and construction of residences for heads of courts in the FCT.
Delivering a goodwill message at the event, Justice Baba Yusuf described the initiative as a strategic intervention that goes beyond architecture, saying it reaffirms the critical importance of judicial welfare, security, and independence in the broader context of justice sector reform.
“This landmark occasion offers us an opportunity to acknowledge leadership that situates justice at the heart of national development,” he said, praising Minister Wike’s bold and unprecedented efforts in prioritizing the needs of the judiciary. “The many things you do for the judiciary do not form any fraction of your overall developmental stride in the FCT. You are simply the man for this assignment.”
The Chief Judge highlighted the Minister’s track record, noting his consistent support for judicial officers during his tenure as Governor of Rivers State, and how he has continued that legacy in Abuja.
He also acknowledged the collaborative role of the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef O. Fagbemi, SAN, describing it as a demonstration of a national commitment to empowering the judiciary.
Justice Baba Yusuf emphasized that the construction of dedicated residences for court heads is a significant step towards enhancing judicial independence and strengthening public confidence in the justice system.
“As we flag off this project, I urge us all to continue fostering an environment where justice is accessible, prompt, and administered with integrity,” he concluded.
The event marks another milestone in the ongoing judicial reforms within the Federal Capital Territory, underscoring a shared vision for a credible, efficient, and well-supported judiciary in Nigeria.
