By Punarimam Fehintola
The General Overseer, Palace of Priests Assembly Abuja, Pastor (Dr.) Otive Igbuzor has said that the notable issue ever experienced in the country has been corruption.
“The greatest problem in Nigeria today is corruption and it is partly because most people aren’t utilising on the spiritual to deal with issues but actualising more on the physical because it is the spiritual that guides norms
and behavior.”
Igbuzor made this statement during the thanksgiving service on his 56th birthday at the Palace of Priests Assembly on Sunday, the 8th of September, in Abuja.
He further said that religious background has its ethics and guiding principles for every believer of same to act in an acceptable manner and not involving one’s self in the said corruption Nigeria is faced with, today.
“My philosophy and vision in life is to touch lives positively, so everything I do is around peace, Justice, and prosperity. The major thing is to see that citizens get the proper service they deserve because service right now in the country is failing whether in power, public education, public housing, and that is why this administration has put in a very good policy plan in my view, the policy of social housing where government is building
houses.
“It will interest you to recollect that hundred billion has been set aside for it in this year’s budget, which is dedicated to lifting people out of poverty and social protection program has been very useful around the world and lifting people out of this so called poverty. In the last 10 years, three countries lifted their economy out of poverty in India, Brazil, and China via social protection. In like mind, the president has said that he will lift up hundred million people out of poverty which is a veritable thing,” he added.
He disclosed to pressmen of his appointment as the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Senate President. Adding that, “my business is to see how I can run the office to the Pocket of effectiveness, to influence positive things for the country so that government can deliver effective services to citizens.
He urged Nigerians to be contented and not ostentatious and should have an existing relationship with God by doing the needful even when no one is watching or supervising them, adding that, problems arises when one is
greedy and selfish.
“contentment with godliness is great gain”
He further urged public officers and citizens to give space for professionalism, merits, and due process, adding that most Nigerians go for connection rather than merits which is the only way the nation can be moved forward.
Speaking, the SSA News & Electronic Media to the Deputy Senate President Mrs. Lara Oyewewise lauded the celebrant as a man of integrity, intelligence, and working with him has proved that he is disciplined and a professional. Adding that, “he is a firm believer that Nigeria can succeed and we can do things right and no cutting of corners but follow due process.”
