Purple Crown Gymnastics Club Hosts Successful 6th Fun Day in Abuja

The Purple Crown Gymnastics Club has successfully hosted the 6th edition of its Gymnastics Fun Day in Abuja, bringing together young athletes, parents, sponsors, and gymnastics enthusiasts in a colourful celebration of talent, discipline, and family entertainment.

The event, held at the Uzzitz Events Centre for Arts and Culture in Mabuchi, Abuja, showcased the skills and progress of the club’s young gymnasts through a series of captivating performances.

Participants and guests commended the club for its commitment to developing children’s confidence, resilience, discipline, and sporting excellence.

Speaking at the event, a parent, Mr. Sanmi Lajuwunmi, expressed delight over the performance of his daughter, Desire, who joined the club only a few months ago.

He said he was encouraged by her confidence and enthusiasm, describing the event as well-organised and beneficial to the children’s development.

Another attendee, Mrs. Aisha Salim, grandmother of gymnast Anita Mukhtar, praised the Head Coach and Chief Executive Officer of the club, Coach Martha Gabriel, for her dedication to nurturing young talents. While applauding the programme, she urged organisers to improve time management in future editions to avoid conflicts with other engagements.

Mrs. Dara, whose daughter Shabiba recently joined the club, noted remarkable improvement in her child’s confidence and performance.

She suggested that future editions should incorporate public speaking sessions for contestants participating in the beauty pageant segment to further enhance their educational development.

Also speaking, Mrs. Yewande Aluko, who attended in support of her granddaughter, commended the children’s performances and recommended the inclusion of more entertainment activities and games for parents and older family members.

For her part, Mrs. Aisha Mukhtar, mother of Aliya and Sa’ada, expressed optimism that many of the young gymnasts could eventually represent Nigeria in international competitions. She noted that her daughters, who have been members of the club for four years, had experienced significant growth through their participation.

One of the club’s sponsors, Mrs. Stella Chibuike-Ezike, lauded the positive impact of the gymnastics programme on children, particularly in developing discipline, focus, responsibility, and resilience. She called on corporate organisations and public-spirited individuals to support the club’s efforts in producing future sporting champions for Nigeria.

The event also attracted the support of business leaders. The Chief Executive Officer of Nanny’s Palace Limited, Mrs. Adiat Olajumoke Ariyo, praised the quality of organisation and the enthusiasm displayed by the children.

Impressed by the success of the programme, she announced that her company would sponsor the club’s next event through a special support package, reaffirming the company’s commitment to children’s development.

In her closing remarks, Coach Martha Gabriel thanked parents, sponsors, participants, and guests for contributing to the success of the event.

She expressed satisfaction with the performances of the young gymnasts and disclosed that the next edition of the Gymnastics Fun Day, scheduled for November 2026, would be bigger and better.

Gabriel also expressed hope that major corporate organisations, including MTN Nigeria and MultiChoice Nigeria, would partner with the club in future to further promote gymnastics development across the country.

The event ended with celebrations and renewed commitment by stakeholders to support the growth of gymnastics among Nigerian children.
