NGO calls for more attention on youths in the north east

The founder of TNT event Sophie Tarfa says Nigerian government must
begin to pay attention more on the youths as they are the majority in
number especially the youths from the north eastern part of the
country who have become vulnerable due to the circumstances of the
crisis that has affected them.
Tarfa made this statement during the weekend in Abuja at a press
conference .
She said the insecurity in the north east has made some youths in the
area to become deviate ‘ the north east is no longer safe, youths
become vulnerable and begin to engage in vices therefore we must
change the narrative and ensure government acts fast towards
ensuring these youths become productive and useful to themselves and
their environment.
The media enthusiast further explained that ‘while government is
buying them sewing machines and all, they should understand that
some of these youths have inner potentials that should be harness”.
“Let them also know their skills or talents that will help them empower
themselves because when a man is hungry he could sale the sewing
machine to feed himself and go back to worst situation”.
The TNT event as a non profit organization is organizing a two day
conference tagged NIA, north eastern youths arise conference in Yola
to train young people in different areas especially in entertainment so
that their lives can be better.
The conference is holding on 25 th and 26 th October with so many talents
in the movie industry in attendance so they can share their experiences
and mentor the north eastern youths who may be interested in that
field.

“We are also doing an award to appreciate a selected few who have
contributed in the area of community service it would have been worst
without the military and some other organizations”
“We have free forms for 1,000 young people who are ready to get
trained and we intend to train 5,000 once we get more funding.
Tarfa however urged Nigerians to look inward and see how they can do
something different for our communities and make Nigeria better.
“ I want to be that voice that would change the mind of a young north
eastern person from joining boko haram. This is about changing the
narrative of the north east and making it a better place.”
