FG Publishes List of 48 Individuals, Groups Linked to Terrorism Financing
The Federal Government has released a list of 48 individuals and organisations allegedly linked to terrorism financing in Nigeria.
The list, made public on Saturday by the Nigeria Sanctions Committee (NIGSAC), is part of ongoing efforts to curb the flow of funds to terrorist networks and strengthen national security.
According to authorities, the individuals and groups named are suspected of providing financial support, directly or indirectly, to activities considered detrimental to the country’s security.
The publication of the list is in line with Nigeria’s commitment to global counter-terrorism measures and anti-money laundering regulations.
The government stated that relevant agencies have been directed to take necessary actions, including the identification, freezing, and monitoring of assets associated with those listed.
Financial institutions and other stakeholders were also urged to comply with existing sanctions frameworks and report any suspicious transactions linked to the affected persons or entities.
Officials noted that the move underscores the administration’s determination to dismantle terrorism financing networks and enhance intelligence-driven operations across the country.
The government further assured that due process would be followed, adding that individuals or organisations who believe they have been wrongly listed have the right to seek redress through appropriate legal channels.
Security analysts say the development marks a significant step in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism, particularly in disrupting the financial lifelines that sustain extremist activities.
