Shehu Sani to Atiku: Stop ‘Scanning Graveyards’, Concentrate on Winning Votes

Former Senator Shehu Sani has advised candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to concentrate their efforts on convincing Nigerians to support them rather than seeking validation from foreign leaders and institutions.

Sani, in a post on his X handle, said the ADC flag bearers should spend their time engaging Nigerians and explaining how they intend to govern differently if elected.

According to him, the opposition candidates should not dissipate their energy seeking the backing of United States President Donald Trump, the European Union or the US Department of Justice as a pathway to political power.

He urged them to focus on winning the confidence of Nigerian voters through clear policies and convincing solutions to the country’s challenges.

Sani also criticised what he described as efforts to search for political advantage in the United States by revisiting issues surrounding deceased individuals.

He said the ADC candidates should stop “scanning graveyards and exhuming corpses” in the United States in search of political advantage and instead devote their attention to the electorate they seek to lead.

The former lawmaker’s comments come amid heightened political activities and positioning ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
