Doguwa ready to accept any responsibility in the House

… Assures constituents, NASS of quality service

The House of Representatives Member-elect for Tudun- Wada/Doguwa Constituency in Kano State, Alhassan Doguwa has expressed readiness to accept any responsibility assigned to him by the House when sworn-in.

Doguwa, the immediate past Majority Leader of the House sacked by an Appeal Court at the weekend won the rerun election for the Constituency and in line with legislative practices, Tuesday submitted his certificate of return and relevant documents to Clerk.

Addressing journalists at the National Assembly ahead of his likely inauguration Wednesday, the Kano lawmaker said he was ready to accept any position given to him by his party, the All Progressive Congress ( APC) and leadership of the House even if it is not House leader.

“Leader of the House is the Business of my party the APC. I will emerge tomorrow as member elect and after swearing in my fate will be in the hands of my party and in the hands of my brothers and sisters in the House of Representatives, especially the APC caucus who have been supportive.

“If they ask me be a floor member I will gracious accept, if they ask me to deputize a Committee Chairman I do, if they want me to continue as leader, I will be glad”, Doguwa said.

Doguwa who is returning to the House for the 7th time assured his constituents and Nigerians to expect quality representation from him while the National Assembly as an institution should also anticipate quality services from him.

“Now that I am back I will continue from where I stopped. I mean what I was doing for my people, what I was doing for the country, what I was doing for and on behalf of National Assembly. I am just like an Ambassador and I will continue to provide that ambassador responsibility to the best of my abilities”.

He debunked claims that the re-run election was marred by violence and electoral malpractices but the election was free and fair, describing the state as a progressive state.

According to Doguwa, local and foreign observers including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) certified that the election was credible.

“I have not come across any individual or organization that has faulted the election on 25 January, 2020 and I don’t think there is nowhere there was irregularity in the election. It was transparent, in my place no blood was let, nobody was injured and there was no crisis at all.

He stressed that APC was is in absolute control and has a firm grip of Kano State as the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of the State only shows that the Kano is progressive.

“Kano as you all know is a very progressive state, a state that leads and others follow. Kano in politics leads so I want to believe what has happened on the 25th January, 2020 House of Representatives election where one seat went to the opposition is something that time will tell what happened”, Doguwa emphasized.
