The Celestial Church of Christ High School Old Students Association (CCCHSOSA) ’89 Set’, Ibadan have handed over the newly refurbished Home Economics Laboratory Project (HELP) embarked upon to the school authority.
The event was performed on Saturday, December 21st, 2019 at the school premises as part of the activities to mark its 30 years anniversary of finishing from the school.
Leading other old students in attendance to hand over the laboratory project to the school principal was the acting chairman, Frank Molokwu, and to the admiration of other senior old students, 86 set, who were also around for their usual meeting.
The set, known as Cele Heights 89 set also used the occasion to duly elect new executive members that will pilot the affairs of the association for a first term of two years.
It could be recalled that the outgone executive members were nominated to run the association affairs on acting capacity at the Ijebu Ode Accord last August, where an agreement was reached to conduct election for substantive executive members in December.
Speaking at the event, the principal who could not hide her joy expressed appreciation to the 89 set for taking it upon themselves to give back to their alma mata, thirty years after graduated from the school.
She hereby prayed for God’s guidance to continually bless and enrich members so that they can do more to better the lots of the school and students that would make use of their projects.
Also, just like Oliver Twist, she tasked them not to relent in doing more, adding that the school needs the support of all old students to contribute their quota towards the growth and development of their alma mata.
However, at the well coordinated elections conducted by the three man electoral committee comprised of Wasiu Okegbola, Bukola Olaregun and Adenike Adelabu, only one position, chairmanship, out of the nine positions fielded two candidates at the event.
For the chairmanship, the duo of acting chairman, Frank Molokwu, and Oluwafemi Oluwajana tried their numerical and popularity strength to determine who will lead the association for the next two years.
The voting system conducted under calm atmosphere was devoid of any rancour or rigging, just as Oluwajana emerged winner after poling a total of 17 votes to defeat the acting chairman, Molokwu with 9 votes, while one vote was void.
Moreover, candidates for other eight positions were unopposed since there were no nomination of candidates, while some stepped down for others in the interests of friendliness and unity.
Returned unopposed were Engr. Semiu Oduwaye as Vice Chairman (Nigeria); Bukola Obanigba nee Obasa – Vice Chairman (Diaspora); Seun Oyebode as Secretary; Esther Omovbude as Treasurer; Abiodun Jimoh aka Chief Akowonjo I as PRO; Abeke Olasupo as Financial Secretary; Caroline Babajide nee Ayansola as Welfare Officer; and Pastor Adebayo Idowu as Ex-Officio.
The new executive members were sworn-in immediately while the Chairman in his speech promised to improve the welfare of members. Adding that the onus was on him to work in harmony with his executive members and others to achieve greater heights as old students of this great institution.
The highlight of the event was entertainment of members and other guests in attendance while the party lasted till late in the evening as members were not ready to end the programme, since many had not seen each other in the last three decades.
