Following incessant crowd violence and frequent assaults on match officials in recent time, Crown FC of Ogbomosho have been banned from playing its remaining home matches at the Soun Township stadium. Ogbomosho.
This was the resolution reached by the management of Bet9ja Nigeria National League board aimed to serve as deterrent to other clubs in the league.
The League management hereby banished the club to play its remaining matches with Papilo FC of Owerri and My People FC of Lagos at the Moshood Abiola stadium, Abeokuta while Soun Township Stadium will not host any NNL game for the next two years.
Official Report received by the league management body indicts Supporters and officials of Crown FC for assaulting match referees and players and officials of their opponent, Abia Comets in match day 29 fixture in the Southern Conference.
The supporters of Crown descended on the match officials and beat them up with security personnel watching without intervention, the uniform of the center referee was torn and stop watches of the three officials were destroyed.
Meanwhile, with this development,
Crown FC are in line with article 26 of the rules governing the League to pay the sum of N2, 000.000, 00 (Two million) for beating match officials and the away team. The said amount will be N1, 500,000 being compensation to match officials on items damaged as well as for two Camera of Abia Comets destroyed while the sum of N500,000.00 (Five hundred thousand) as medical bills for match officials, Abia Comets FC players and officials assaulted.
Furthermore, the team manager of Crown FC, Adetunde Adewunmi and their Physio, Alabi Jonathan were suspended indefinitely from all NNL activities, both are to also appear before the NNL Compliance Unit on Wednesday 27th of September,2017.
It could be recalled that both Messrs Adetunde Adewunmi and Alabi Jonathan reigned abuses on the referee and in the process assaulted him.
NNL management has equally mandated the Oyo State Football Association and Crown FC management to produce the assailants involved in the attack of match officials and to ensure they are brought before the NNL Compliance Division before their next home game.
