2027: Obi Expresses Doubt Over ADC Presidential Ticket

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has said he is uncertain about clinching the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on his political future and ongoing coalition talks, Obi acknowledged that there are no guarantees regarding his chances within the party, despite growing public interest.

“I’ve been asked how certain I am that the ADC will give me the ticket. The truth is, I cannot be sure. What matters most is our commitment to a shared cause,” he stated.

The former governor of Anambra State stressed that his focus remains on building a movement driven by national interest rather than personal ambition.

He noted that the current political climate requires resilience, consistency, and sacrifice, particularly among opposition figures.

Obi also expressed concern about Nigeria’s situation, questioning how the country arrived at its present state and warning against losing momentum in the push for change.

“I often ask myself how we got here and what could happen if we stop pushing for change,” he said.

Despite reports of political pressure and internal challenges, Obi maintained that he remains committed to his mission, adding that no form of intimidation has shaken his resolve.

He further pointed to the issue of trust within political alliances, admitting that uncertainty continues to shape relationships among coalition partners.

“We can’t be completely certain that those we’re working with today won’t walk away tomorrow. That uncertainty is always there,” he added.
