APC Campaign Council: Uzodimma, Adeleke, Soludo, Wike Pledge Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election
The Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, has assured President Bola Tinubu that the council will embark on nationwide mobilisation to secure his re-election in 2027.
Uzodimma said the council would take its campaign to every ward, local government area and state, urging members to communicate the administration’s policies, reforms and achievements effectively to Nigerians.
He spoke while assuring Tinubu of the council’s commitment to delivering the president’s re-election mandate, with the support of party leaders and political figures, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
According to Uzodimma, the presence of the three political leaders at the event demonstrated their support for Tinubu’s re-election bid and, in his view, reflected confidence in the APC administration’s policies.

He charged campaign council members to present the government’s achievements with clarity and engage Nigerians confidently, arguing that significant progress had been recorded in the administration’s first three years.
“We must show Nigerians how this investment and reforms can translate into practical improvement in our daily lives. This is the substance of our campaign.
“A clear record, an honest assessment of the challenges and a credible vision of the future. I understand our members’ expectations as we approach the next general election,” he said.
Uzodimma, who also serves as secretary of the campaign council, said the success of the campaign would depend on effective national leadership, commitment from state chapters, strong local government structures and mobilisation at the grassroots.
He called for a peaceful, issue-based campaign focused on policies, records and ideas, with respect for the Nigerian electorate.
The governor maintained that Tinubu’s policies and programmes would provide the campaign council with a basis for engaging voters ahead of the 2027 general election.
Uzodimma Defends Tinubu’s Economic Reforms
Uzodimma praised Tinubu for implementing economic reforms that he said previous administrations had been reluctant to undertake, particularly the removal of petrol subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market.
He argued that the previous subsidy regime placed considerable pressure on public finances, while the multiple exchange-rate system created economic distortions.
“The first thing we are proud of is the courage you brought to the problems you inherited when you took office. The country was spending more money on petrol subsidies than on many of its most important public services combined.
“And a system of multiple exchange rates rewarded a few at everyone else’s expense,” he said.
According to the governor, successive administrations had recognised the need to address these challenges but failed to take decisive action.
“You were the only one who chose to end them. On the first day of your administration and in the full knowledge that it would cost your popularity, you did it,” Uzodimma said.
He also commended the administration’s tax reforms, linking them and other economic measures to improvements in Nigeria’s economic performance.
Uzodimma cited the reported increase in economic growth to 4.43 per cent from 4.23 per cent a year earlier as evidence of the economy’s direction.
While acknowledging that the reforms had caused hardship and inconvenience for Nigerians, he argued that economic indicators suggested the country was moving in the right direction.
“Nobody here pretends that these reforms did not bring some hardship or some inconveniences to our people, but the institutions that measure economies of nations are now saying what we have been saying for some time, which is that Nigeria is on the right course,” he added.
Adeleke, Soludo, Wike Back Tinubu’s Re-election
In their goodwill messages, Adeleke, Soludo and Wike expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, according to the statement.
Adeleke, who governs Osun State on the platform of the Accord Party, drew cheers from attendees with his trademark dance moves at the event.
Soludo, the governor of Anambra State and a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), also attended the gathering.
Wike, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a member of the federal cabinet, attributed his support for Tinubu to what he described as the president’s bold leadership and willingness to confront longstanding national challenges.
The FCT minister argued that previous administrations had identified the country’s problems without taking the necessary steps to address them.
“Previous administrations identified our problems, but did not tackle them. You have not shied away from tackling such problems. You tackled them from Day One,” Wike said.
He also challenged governors to work towards delivering their respective states for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The remarks underscored the campaign council’s emphasis on grassroots mobilisation, economic reforms and cross-party support as the APC prepares for the next presidential election.
