Tinubu pledges continued support for Kaduna as Gov. Uba Sani reports major strides in agriculture, infrastructure
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State on Tuesday met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, where both leaders held what the governor described as a “substantive and forward-looking” discussion on the state’s development priorities.
In a statement issued after the meeting, Governor Sani expressed deep appreciation to the President for what he called Tinubu’s unwavering support for Kaduna, particularly in the areas of agriculture, agribusiness, and infrastructure. He noted that the President received him with “characteristic warmth and generosity of spirit,” adding that the people and government of Kaduna State remain grateful for the administration’s continued backing.

Sani highlighted Kaduna’s emergence as a national trailblazer in agricultural innovation, becoming the first sub-national government in Nigeria to establish both a Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) and an African Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC). These institutions, he said, will strengthen modern agribusiness, boost export competitiveness, and expand critical agricultural value chains across Northern Nigeria and the Sahel.
The governor also briefed the President on the state’s proposed 2026 budget, noting that allocations to agriculture will once again surpass the Malabo Declaration benchmark of 10 percent of total public expenditure — a reflection of the administration’s commitment to making agriculture the centrepiece of Kaduna’s development strategy.
On infrastructure, Sani thanked the Federal Government for its support of Kaduna’s ambitious transportation modernisation plan. He provided updates on the state’s Light Rail project and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system — the second BRT operation in Nigeria after Lagos — both expected to transform mobility, productivity, and economic growth in the state.
President Tinubu, according to the statement, reassured the governor of his firm commitment to enhancing peace and security in Kaduna, as well as fast-tracking major federal projects, including the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano expressway.
Governor Sani described the engagement as productive and highly rewarding, expressing confidence that the partnership with the Federal Government will continue to deliver tangible improvements for the people of Kaduna State.
