Tinubu Condemns Plateau, Kaduna Killings, Orders Security Crackdown

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned recent attacks in Plateau and Kaduna States, describing the incidents as “barbaric and cowardly.”

In a State House press release issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President decried the killing of residents in Angwan Rukuba district of Jos, Plateau State, as well as the attack on wedding guests in Kahir village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Tinubu described the incidents as an affront to Nigeria’s values, warning that those responsible would face justice. He stated that attackers who target defenceless citizens under the cover of darkness are “heartless cowards” whose actions are aimed at triggering reprisals and escalating violence.

The President directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators, while also warning against the spread of misinformation capable of worsening tensions. He specifically cautioned sections of the media against prematurely labeling the attacks as religiously motivated.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring peace, Tinubu stressed the importance of public cooperation with security directives, including evacuation and relocation measures where necessary. He also welcomed the safe return of two victims abducted in the Kaduna attack.

Calling for improved intelligence response, the President urged security agencies to act swiftly on early warning signs to prevent future attacks and secure the release of all remaining abductees.

Tinubu commended Caleb Mutfwang and Uba Sani for their efforts in managing the crises and supporting rescue operations.

He further assured Nigerians that his administration is acquiring advanced security equipment to enhance real-time tracking and neutralization of criminal elements across the country.

The President also extended condolences to families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
