Tinubu appoints Dr. Olugbemisola Odusote as First Female Director-General of Nigerian Law School
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, marking a historic milestone as she becomes the first female head of the institution since it was founded in 1962.
The appointment was disclosed on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Dr. Odusote’s tenure will commence on January 10, 2026, and will run for an initial four-year term, subject to renewal.
Currently serving as the Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School, the 54-year-old legal scholar will take over from Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose eight-year tenure ends on January 9, 2026.
With more than 20 years of experience in legal education, Dr. Odusote has held several key academic and administrative positions within the institution.
She earned her LL.B. and LL.M. degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University and later obtained a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom.
Renowned for her scholarly work, Dr. Odusote has authored numerous publications and actively participated in both local and international legal education conferences.
In her new role, she is expected to oversee academic and administrative affairs across all campuses of the Nigerian Law School, providing strategic leadership to the institution.
