TETFUND supports MAPOLY to build ultra-modern ICT centre, as WITED-NIWIIT hosts 1st digital training

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has granted Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, support through its special intervention fund to establish a well equipped Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre.
The project is in recognition of the institution Management’s mission towards making MAPOLY, a tech-hub institution on the global map, in which when completed, will house about 200 desktop computers, air-conditioner, full internet access and standby power supply.
This was disclosed by Ag. Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, during a courtesy visit of the Executive members of Women in Technical Education and Employment (WITED), MAPOLY chapter, to his office to intimate him about their line of agendas.
The visitors, led by her Chairperson, Ms. Dada Showunmi, congratulated Dr. Odedeji on his appointment as the Ag. Rector of the institution and proceeded to deliver the interest and purpose of WITED, MAPOLY chapter to collaborate with Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT), Ogun State Chapter to host 1st Women Digital Training.
WITED as a body, was set up in 1988 as an International Project of Commonwealth Association of Polytechnic Rectors in Africa (CAPA). CAPA which seeks to improve the participation of the girl-child in mathematics, science and technical education for enhanced national development.
The digital training is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, February 12th, 2020 at the ICT Building of MAPOLY, with a theme ‘Developing Innovative Products and Services Using Google Analytics’, and it will feature several Google related skills such as Google Forms, Trends, Scholar, Books, MyBusiness, and many more.
In his response, Dr. Odedeji appreciated their gesture and promised them that women in the system would be given equal opportunities with special consideration and attention.
He further encouraged that women would be directly involved in day-to-day running of activities of the Polytechnic, even beyond the previous records, adding that MAPOLY has been enjoying the services of women with diligence and focus, who are essentially impacted in the development of the institution.
He then charged women staff members to develop themselves so as to be better off in discharging their schedule of duties, while he appealed to all members of staff and students to key into researching for value chain opportunities to transform the institution to a global standard.
