Sule Lamido urges Tinubu, past leaders to unite amid looming U.S. threat

Former Governor of Jigawa State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido, has raised alarm over what he described as a looming threat of war against Nigeria from U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a statement released on Sunday, Lamido said the mere prospect of such a conflict was “deeply concerning” and called for urgent national unity to safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty.

He urged President Bola Tinubu to “set aside pride” and convene an emergency closed-door meeting with all past Presidents and Heads of State to deliberate on the situation and chart a path forward.

According to Lamido, Nigeria’s former leaders possess the experience and diplomatic influence required to engage with the United States and de-escalate tensions.

“These leaders need to put aside any personal grievances with President Tinubu and work together to find a solution that can avert this impending crisis,” he said.

Lamido emphasized that Nigeria cannot afford complacency in the face of such a grave threat, warning that “time is of the essence.”
