Soyinka urges Tinubu to confront Nigeria’s unsolved political murders

Renowned playwright and Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to break the silence on some of Nigeria’s most haunting political assassinations.

He called for fresh investigations into the unresolved killings of journalist Dele Giwa, former Justice Minister Bola Ige, and democracy icon Kudirat Abiola.

Addressing reporters during a media chat in Lagos on Saturday, Soyinka emphasized that addressing these long-standing cases is not only a matter of justice but a national imperative for healing.

He noted that the truth behind these politically charged murders could be within reach, especially with insights from both local citizens and Nigerians in the diaspora.

Soyinka framed the call not just as a legal or political necessity, but as a moral duty for Tinubu’s administration to reckon with Nigeria’s troubled past and restore public trust.
