Soludo visits Tinubu, expresses gratitude for post-election support

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, expressing appreciation for the president’s warm congratulatory message following his recent governorship election victory.

In a statement released on Friday, Soludo described the meeting as cordial and reflective of their friendship spanning more than two decades. He noted that President Tinubu personally commended him on the “resounding mandate” granted by the people of Anambra.

Soludo thanked the president for his prompt congratulatory message on election day as well as his continued interest in Anambra’s development. Reaffirming his commitment to national unity, the governor stated: “We are one Nigeria, and together – with God on our side – we will build the Anambra and the Nigeria of our dreams.”

President Tinubu had earlier hailed Soludo’s victory as proof of the confidence Ndi Anambra have in their collective vision for a “livable and prosperous homeland.”

Running on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Soludo defeated candidates from 15 other parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC). INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, declared him winner after he secured 422,664 votes. His closest rival, APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu, garnered 99,445 votes, while the Young Progressives Party candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, finished third with 37,753 votes.
