Presidency Denies Rumours of Ribadu’s Resignation as NSA
The Presidency has dismissed widespread rumours claiming that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, resigned from office, describing the reports as false and misleading.
A top source within the Presidency said there was no truth to the speculation, stressing that Ribadu remains fully in charge of the National Security Adviser’s office and continues to enjoy the confidence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The clarification followed the appointment of Major General Adeyinka A. Fadewa as Special Adviser on Homeland Security, a development that triggered speculation that Ribadu had been replaced.
However, the Presidency explained that the newly created Homeland Security Office was designed to complement the work of the NSA and strengthen Nigeria’s internal security architecture.
According to the source, the office will focus on immigration and border security, civil defence coordination, transport security, and domestic intelligence gathering, while Ribadu will continue overseeing national intelligence coordination and the operations of major security agencies across the country.
“This is about strengthening Nigeria’s security structure, not removing anyone,” the source stated.
The Presidency also cautioned Nigerians against spreading unverified information capable of creating unnecessary tension, particularly as security agencies intensify operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities nationwide.
“The rumour that Nuhu Ribadu resigned is 100 per cent false,” the source added.
