NIS CG visits NIMC DG, strengthens collaboration on identity and border security
The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nana Nandap, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, in a move aimed at deepening cooperation between the two strategic agencies under the Federal Ministry of Interior.
CG Nandap, who was accompanied by members of her management team, said the visit reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to consolidating their long-standing partnership in enhancing national security, strengthening Nigeria’s identity management architecture, and improving service delivery to citizens.
She emphasized the critical importance of continuous collaboration between the NIS and NIMC, noting that closer coordination would bolster border security operations, improve identity verification systems, and support national development priorities. According to her, effective synergy between the two agencies remains essential to building a secure and well-managed identity ecosystem for the country.
Welcoming the delegation, NIMC DG Coker-Odusote expressed the Commission’s readiness to broaden its partnership with the NIS. She stressed the need for sustained cooperation to enhance data integrity, streamline operational processes, and fortify the country’s borders through a robust and reliable identity infrastructure.
Both agencies reiterated their shared commitment to advancing policies and initiatives that strengthen security, efficiency, and innovation in Nigeria’s identity and border management systems.
