NIGERIANS LAMBAST FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OVER UNABATED FUEL SCARCITY

Nigerians have expressed disappointment over the manner the federal government is handling the unabated fuel scarcity in the country.
The displeasure of the citizens was made known during a discuss on penpushing,a social media on Sunday, while assessing the scarcity of the products.
They also frowned at press statement from the presidency, which described the petroleum problems as unfortunate.
The Nigerians said they were not interested in sentimental press statement, rather federal government should take appropriate action to address the problem.
It is on record that,in the last one week, motorists and residents have been groaning over the inadequate of the products, with the development more worsen in the South-West of the country.
The participants on penpushing platform declared that,Nigerians have been pushed to the wall over the worrisome situation, where motorists would have to sleep at fuel stations, and return without getting the products to buy.
The contributors also tonguelashed federal government over a media report asking citizens to take time and watched president documentary on television.
Many of the reactions queried that, of what benefit was to watch the president on television, when there was no petrol in the generators to power their television.
In his contribution,Bolu Esho, a journalist wrote,’would there be public power supply or I should go and queue for hours to buy N350/ltr fuel to power my gen to watch the HUMAN sides of the man who’s in charge of petroleum in the country?’
He argued that, what other human side of the president do the federal government want the citizens to watch, having seen enough of him.
“Why waste tax payers’ money, what other HUMAN sides of him do we need to see again at this time? We have seen enough of him. I’d rather watch Cartoons with my children’,he declared.
Also, a radio presenter, Akinyemi Akintoye in his own reaction, said an average Nigerians have nothing to benefit from watching humanside of Buhari, stressing that, such would not proffer any solution to the present hardship
‘And what does an average Nigerians stand to benefit from this human side of PMB? Will that profer solution to the lingering fuel scarcity on ground. I wish PMB could move round town to see how his people are suffering’,Akintoye stated.
He added,’The President’s words should be followed by his actions. Let’s see the president and his cabinet going on a personal inspection to some of these filling stations, at least in their respective states across the nation’.‎
In his own remark, Funso Akinwande,an estate agent lamented that, the fuel shortage was bitting harder and becoming unbearable.
Akinwande added further that, the impact of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation,NNPC,cannot be felt.
‘The current fuel shortage is biting  harder here in Ibadan. It is becoming unbearable. We can not even feel impact of having NNPC depot here, whereas loadings are taking place everyday here in the depot’,he emphasised.
Contributing,‎‎Eddy Ademosu wrote, ‘frankly, from brand reputational/pure PR perspective, this is a wrong timing for the targeted audience’.
He added, ‘If the documentary release had been programmed for Christmas season, it could have been shifted to allow for proper assimilation by the public’.
‘Nigerians are groaning under the heavy yoke of fuel scarcity and its spiral socio-economic impacts this season. As good as the intentions of the documentary could be, the timing is terribly wrong, clearly suggesting some insensitivity on the parts of the handlers’,Ademosu noted.
He said another PR package should have pictured the President and his key cabinet members going round specific petrol stations to identify with suffering Nigerians.
‘It is more likely to draw sympathy for a government that struggling with good reputation’,he posited
In the same vein,Abdussobur Salaam a staffer of Federal University of Agriculture,Abeokuta wrote,’what we need from the President is action and not words. These words are empty and as far as I am concerned, even provocative’.
‘I wonder why he appointed himself Minister of Petroleum if we were going to end up like this!
I am utterly disappointed!‎ The twitter messages are indeed nauseating and provocative!’,he stated
‘ What people have experienced and the inconveniences suffered are not what some empty and meaningless messages can fix!’,Salaam added
Another participants,Nureni Bakenne wrote,’the monitoring can’t be achieved on paper, Mr. President!  We’re too elitist with our actions’.
Bakenne who is the Public Relations Officer of Tai Solarin University of Education(TASUED),Ijebu-Ode said government should collaborate with transport union to fish out those who hoard the products.
‘Government needs to collaborate with transportation associations to give information as to where fuel is being hoarded. It’ll be one week tomorrow that I’ve gone out with my car’,he said.
‘In a public transport I boarded this morning, the driver was sharing his experience on how he suffered for days to get fuel. He told us that about 8 loads of trucks entered Abeokuta  without knowing their destination (how true is this, I don’t know) but no smoke without fire’,Bakenne said.
‘There’s an extent to which Nigerians can endure. It’s agonizing! How many Nigerians have access to twitter, facebook or instagram? Only comfort can give you access to the aforementioned social media. These stories are too much for our brain to fathom. Watch out for my article’,he stated
