OGUN SURVEYORS DONATES XMAS GIFTS TO ORPHANAGE
Ogun State Chapter of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors(NIS),Ogun State Command has extended Chrismas gestures to the orphanage homes.
The Institution under the leadership of Surveyor Babatunde Ashaye visited Stella Obasanjo Children Home,Borstal Home and Correctional Home located in Abeokuta where they donated food items and beverages.
The Chairman of the Institution who was represented by Surveyor Kayode Adekoya during the donations said the decision to contribute to the less privileged was reached at the executive meeting.
His words ‘We come here to represent the entire surveyor community in the state. The major thing that brought us here today is about the season we are in’.
‘Christmas comes once in a year and you know average surveyors have what it takes to celebrate in the new year. But it occurred to us at the exco level that there are some people that are less privileged but loves to celebrate but what it takes is not there, either the financial challenges or the resources’,he added.
The chairman said , the thought of where they(institution) could go were the motherless babies homes, the less privileged homes where they are being tutored.
‘We have visited places in Asero, Iberekodo and we are in Stella Obasanjo home for the physically challenged children. We brought items as a mark of the passion we have for these children and we have deposited it with the management here’,he stated.
‘Sincerely speaking people with this type of mind should be encouraged and from experience where we first visited terribly challenged, you will see they really need this help’,the chairman added.
’We are not better off than all these children, they were conceived in thier mothers womb the same way we were . It’s only the grace of God that made us to be better off, for those of us that have all our bodies functioning, our eyes can see clearly, then we should extend this hand of fellowship to those that are not privileged as we are’,he stated.
‘You don’t think of yourself alone. As many that have money, bring to this type of place, scholarships for them, we should not be selfish, we should reach out to people in this type of condition’,he said
However,in her response, the Social worker of Stella Obasanjo Children Home, Bisola Houngbo expressed appreciation to the donor.
She also called on other institutions and individuals to emulate the gestures toward the children welfare and benefit of the country
