NECO Releases 2025 SSCE Results, Over 60% Secure Five Credits Including Maths and English

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, revealing that 60.26% of candidates achieved five credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language.

Speaking at a press briefing held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, the Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, disclosed that 1,367,210 candidates registered for the exam, with 1,358,339 ultimately sitting for it.

Of those who participated, 818,492 candidates met the benchmark of five credits and above, including in the two core subjects. Meanwhile, 1,144,496 candidates, or 84.26%, earned five credits and above regardless of performance in English and Mathematics.

Describing the results as a testament to NECO’s dedication to transparency and educational standards, Wushishi emphasized the council’s ongoing commitment to fairness and academic integrity.

He also noted that 1,622 candidates with special needs — including those with visual and hearing impairments, albinism, autism, and low vision — were accommodated during the examination.

Significantly, the registrar highlighted a 61.58% decline in exam malpractice, with 3,878 cases recorded in 2025, compared to 10,094 incidents in 2024.

Despite this progress, 38 schools across 13 states were found to be involved in widespread cheating and are now facing disciplinary action. Additionally, nine supervisors in Rivers, Niger, the FCT, Kano, and Osun states have been blacklisted for various misconducts, including aiding malpractice.

Candidates have been advised to check their results online by visiting www.neco.gov.ng and entering their registration numbers.
