Kabba/Bunu LGA seals NIPCO fuel station, confiscates truck and tank over alleged illegal fuel transport
The Kabba/Bunu Local Government Authority has sealed the NIPCO Fueling Station in Kabba and confiscated a truck, a large fuel tank, and other petroleum products allegedly used in illegal fuel transportation linked to criminal syndicates operating within the region.
According to an official statement from the Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Information, Communication & Strategy to the Executive Chairman, Barrister Dare Zacheaus the enforcement action followed months of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and security monitoring by the Local Government’s security network.
Authorities report that a particular truck had repeatedly been observed purchasing unusually large quantities of fuel, which were then transported toward forested areas around Kiri, other parts of Kabba/Bunu, and routes extending into Niger State—zones known to serve as hideouts for criminal elements.
The breakthrough came earlier today when the Kabba/Bunu Security Team, working jointly with operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), trailed and intercepted the vehicle, leading to its confiscation along with the fuel products.
Following the interception, the Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, Hon. (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, ordered the immediate sealing of the NIPCO Fueling Station for violating standing security directives. The directive prohibits the sale of fuel in jerrycans, drums, or large tanks—especially when such transactions raise suspicion or conflict with established security guidelines.
The Chairman noted that the order forms part of broader preventive measures aimed at curtailing the movement of essential supplies, particularly fuel, to bandits and terrorists who rely on such resources to sustain operations in remote hideouts. These groups have been responsible for attacks that threaten peace and safety within the affected communities.
Officials confirmed that the suspects, the seized truck, the tank, and the fuel are currently in secure custody as investigations continue. The Chairman reiterated the administration’s resolve to pursue the case to its logical conclusion and ensure that all culpable parties are prosecuted.
“This action should serve as a strong warning to all individuals or entities still determined to sabotage government efforts in restoring peace and fighting insecurity in our Local Government,” Hon. Michael stated.
The Kabba/Bunu Local Government Authority reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security, protecting residents, and eliminating all channels that support criminal enterprises within the region.
