K1 De Ultimate Responds to Airport Misconduct Allegations, Denies Wrongdoing
Renowned Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has broken his silence regarding a recent incident involving officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had alleged that the veteran musician poured alcohol on airport personnel during a security check. According to FAAN, the confrontation began when officials attempted to inspect the contents of a flask K1 intended to take onboard.
In a statement released on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, by his media aide Kunle Rasheed, K1 strongly refuted the allegations, describing them as “grossly exaggerated and misleading.” He stated that at no point did he act inappropriately while preparing to board a ValueJet flight on Tuesday, August 5.
“The liquid in question was nothing more than plain water handed to him at the airport lounge,” Rasheed clarified. “Despite his calm attempt to explain this, the matter was needlessly escalated.”
He dismissed claims that K1 disrupted airport operations or blocked a plane from taking off, emphasizing the artist’s consistent adherence to aviation rules, both at home and abroad. Rasheed also revealed that senior officials from FAAN, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and the airline itself later reached out to the musician, offering apologies and even arranging a complimentary private jet to transport him to Lagos — an offer he respectfully declined.
“It is worth noting that K1 was the only person, alongside his personal assistant, directly involved in the situation,” Rasheed added. “Several eyewitnesses, including fellow passengers, urged him to remain composed, acknowledging the pressure he was subjected to.”
He also disclosed that the pilot involved has since had her license suspended, suggesting that she may now be attempting to shift blame. “Her version of events may be self-serving,” the statement claimed.
Rasheed called on both the public and the media to avoid jumping to conclusions, urging for a fair and fact-based understanding of the incident.
“K1 remains a responsible citizen and is fully cooperating with authorities to ensure a transparent resolution,” the statement concluded.
