In 3 months we will end Boko Haram, agitations – Peace Corps
Dr. Chinedu Nneji, the Commandant General of the National Unity and Peace Corps (NUPEC), has assured Nigerians that the Nigerian Peace Corps (NPC) will end Boko Haram and secession agitations within three months, Daily Trust reports.
Nneji stated this in reaction to the passage of the Nigerian Peace Corps bill by the Senate.
The NPC is an offshoot of NUPEC and Peace Corps of Nigeria.
He said: “We have studied the problems of the country and as I speak with you, we have already prepared our officers and men to be able to launch into the society and restore total peace,” he said.
“I assure you, three months after the assent of Mr. President, you will see that the entire country will come to normalcy. Agitation of secession by the Biafrans, the quit notice from the Northern youths and all other agitations in the country now, all will be stopped.”
He added that:“We will also dialogue with Boko Haram to make sure that they stop all bombings.”
Nneji while expressing optimism that the president will assent the bill when he returned from his medical trip, said Peace Corps will compliment their efforts through mediation.
“One long journey, we finally got to the Promise land. Thank you all,” Saraki said after the bill was passed on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.
