APC Convention: Tinubu Calls for Discipline, Warns Against Internal Division

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has cautioned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against internal discord, urging party leaders and stakeholders to prioritise unity and discipline over personal ambition.

Speaking at the party’s 4th Elective National Convention in Abuja, Tinubu warned that political parties often collapse not because of electoral defeat, but due to internal conflicts fueled by ego and competing interests.

He stressed that the APC must remain focused on its founding ideals, describing the convention as an opportunity to strengthen internal democracy, rebuild trust among members, and reaffirm the party’s collective direction.

The President urged delegates, aspirants, and stakeholders to conduct themselves with integrity throughout the convention, emphasizing that no contest should divide the party.

“At the end of this convention, our party must be the ultimate winner,” he said, calling on members to accept outcomes in good faith and maintain unity regardless of differing interests.

Tinubu also reiterated that the APC was founded as a platform for national transformation rather than a vehicle for individual political gain, adding that its continued growth depends on transparent leadership and strong institutional values.

He encouraged newly elected party officials to lead with humility, fairness, and vision, noting that the future of both the party and Nigeria’s democracy depends on their conduct.

The President further highlighted the influx of new members into the APC in recent years as a sign of growing public confidence, urging party leaders to sustain the momentum through credible leadership and effective party management.

Tinubu concluded by reaffirming his commitment to strengthening the party’s structure and ensuring it remains united, resilient, and prepared for future political challenges.
