FG Will Not Bow to Terrorists, Shettima Assures After Borno Attacks

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has assured that the Federal Government will not be intimidated by recent insurgent attacks in Borno State, stressing that efforts to destabilise the country will not succeed.

His remarks follow outreach by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the government and people of Borno State over the latest wave of insurgency incidents in the region.

Condemning the attacks, the Vice President expressed concern over the abductions reported in Ngoshe and coordinated assaults on military formations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana and Mainok.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Shettima said the administration remains determined to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians and will not allow violent groups to undermine the nation’s peace and stability.

He disclosed that the Federal Government has already begun deploying additional tactical resources and intelligence-driven reinforcements to affected areas to strengthen ongoing security operations.

According to the Vice President, President Tinubu has been fully briefed on the situation and has ordered a swift and comprehensive mobilisation of the country’s security architecture to confront the threat.

Shettima emphasised that the government will not allow terrorists to establish safe havens or displace communities, warning that those responsible for the attacks will face the full weight of the law.

He also expressed sympathy to families affected by the violence and paid tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, assuring that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe return of abducted citizens.

The Vice President further commended the resilience of the people and leadership of Borno State under Governor Babagana Zulum, while praising the courage of troops fighting on the frontlines.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring lasting peace, noting that Nigeria will confront terrorism with the full strength of the state to protect its citizens and territorial integrity.
