President Tinubu To Troops: Nigeria Will Overcome Insecurity, Your Sacrifices Will Never Be Forgotten
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerians and members of the Armed Forces that the country will ultimately defeat insecurity, pledging that the sacrifices made by military personnel will not be in vain.
The President gave the assurance on Friday during an interfaith breaking of fast with members of the Armed Forces at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of officers and soldiers serving on the frontlines across the country.
According to the President, the dedication and resilience shown by the military in confronting bandits and terrorists remain a source of pride for the nation.
“I have listened to the Chief of Army Staff regarding my recent approvals for the Armed Forces. On behalf of a grateful nation, I thank you for your sacrifices, especially knowing that many of you spend long periods away from your families while confronting bandits and terrorists,” he said.
President Tinubu commended the courage, professionalism, and patriotism of the troops, noting that their efforts have significantly weakened terrorist groups and criminal elements in different parts of the country.
“You continue to serve Nigeria with deep commitment and defend our sovereignty. The nation will remain grateful to you, and I assure you that your sacrifices will never be in vain,” the President added.
He also assured the military of sustained government support through investments in modern equipment, improved intelligence gathering, and enhanced logistics to strengthen their operational capacity.
The President further thanked Nigerians for their patience and resilience as the government implements economic reforms.
“I am pleased to say that the sacrifices made by you and by all Nigerians are beginning to yield results. We are gradually emerging from the dark tunnel,” he said.
President Tinubu also expressed condolences to the government and people of Borno State over the recent terrorist attack in the state.
Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff, Oluwafemi Oluyode, who was represented by the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, commended the President for several recent approvals aimed at improving the welfare and operational effectiveness of military personnel.
He noted that the approvals include salary increases for members of the Armed Forces, improved allowances for the Brigade of Guards, procurement of modern equipment, and the provision of better accommodation for military personnel.
“These initiatives will significantly enhance our operational efficiency, and I want to assure you that they have been warmly received by all members of the Armed Forces,” he said.
