APC Chairman Yilwatda Takes Two-Week Vacation to Re-strategise for 2027

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has commenced a two-week vacation outside Nigeria to rest, rejuvenate and re-strategise ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the vacation comes after an exceptionally demanding first year in office marked by extensive party engagements, consultations, travels and strategic activities aimed at repositioning and strengthening the ruling party.

Since assuming the leadership of the APC, Yilwatda has worked with the National Working Committee (NWC), governors, National Assembly members, state party structures, elected officials and other stakeholders to consolidate the party’s structures and electoral strength.

The statement noted that under his leadership, the APC successfully organised and concluded its National Convention, strengthened its internal structures and conducted primary elections at various levels ahead of the 2027 elections.

It described the vacation as a period for the National Chairman to step back from the intensity of day-to-day party activities, recharge and reflect on the responsibilities ahead.

Yilwatda is also expected to use the period to sharpen his strategic thinking and prepare for the next phase of the APC’s activities as the party seeks to consolidate the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Part of his focus during the vacation, according to the statement, will be the forthcoming National Working Committee Retreat, where the party’s leadership is expected to review its activities, identify emerging challenges and agree on strategies for the months ahead.

The retreat is also expected to strengthen coordination within the NWC and enhance the party’s preparedness for the 2027 electoral season.

The APC said Yilwatda’s temporary absence from the country would not affect the operations of the party, as the NWC would continue to discharge its responsibilities in line with the party’s constitution and established procedures.

The National Chairman is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the two-week vacation and resume his engagements with renewed energy and focus.
