U.S. Air Force Delivers Military Equipment to Nigeria as Security Cooperation Deepens

The United States Air Force has delivered military equipment to the Nigerian Air Force under a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) agreement, in a development expected to further strengthen Nigeria’s counter-terrorism and national security operations.

The equipment was transported to Nigeria this weekend aboard a U.S. Air Force C-17 military transport aircraft.

The delivery comes about one month after National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, led Nigeria’s delegation to the U.S.-Nigeria Joint Working Group meeting in Washington, D.C., where enhanced military-to-military cooperation between both countries featured prominently on the agenda.

The latest development signals growing security collaboration between Nigeria and the United States as Abuja intensifies efforts to tackle terrorism and other security threats across the country.

The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) has indicated that it will support Nigeria’s counter-terrorism operations, underscoring Washington’s continued partnership with Nigeria in strengthening its security capabilities.

The delivery is also expected to bolster the operational capacity of the Nigerian Air Force as it works with other security agencies to combat terrorist groups and protect communities affected by insecurity.
