DSS Recovers Donated Relief Supplies from Private Warehouse in Taraba

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have raided a private warehouse in Sintali Ward, Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State, recovering relief materials worth millions of naira that were reportedly meant for disaster victims.

Security sources said the operation followed intelligence provided by residents, who allegedly noticed relief supplies being moved at night from government storage facilities to the private warehouse.

During the raid, DSS operatives recovered food items and other humanitarian supplies believed to have been donated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre to the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) for distribution to victims of disasters across the state.

Four suspects, including the owner of the warehouse and three rice traders, were arrested during the operation.

They are currently in DSS custody as investigations continue.

The recovered items have been moved to the DSS office in Jalingo for further examination.

According to security sources, investigators are working to determine whether the relief materials were unlawfully diverted from official government custody or were being stored at the warehouse for legitimate reasons.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency nor the Department of State Services had issued an official statement on the incident.

Investigations into the alleged diversion of the relief materials are ongoing.
