Tinubu Celebrates Fashola at Birthday
… Praises Legacy of Service and Leadership
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former Lagos State Governor and former Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as an exemplary public servant whose contributions to governance and national development have left an enduring legacy.
In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Fashola’s outstanding record in public service, highlighting his achievements as a legal practitioner, administrator, and patriotic Nigerian.
The President commended Fashola’s unwavering commitment to progressive governance, integrity in public office, intellectual depth, and dedication to nation-building.
Tinubu recalled Fashola’s service as his Chief of Staff between 2003 and 2006 before succeeding him as Governor of Lagos State from 2007 to 2015.
He noted that during his tenure, Fashola consolidated the gains of progressive governance through landmark reforms in infrastructure, transportation, security, education, healthcare, environmental management, and public sector administration.
According to the President, Fashola’s pursuit of excellence helped transform Lagos into a model of innovation and sustainable urban development, making him one of the country’s most distinguished leaders.
Tinubu also acknowledged Fashola’s service in the Federal Executive Council between 2015 and 2023, where he oversaw the critical ministries of Works, Power and Housing.
“Fashola’s commitment to excellence, which helped to transform Lagos into a model of innovation and sustainable urban development, will continue to signpost him as an outstanding governor and leader,” the President said.
He wished the former governor many more years in good health, wisdom, strength and fulfilment, praying that Almighty Allah would continue to guide him as he contributes to Nigeria’s growth, unity and prosperity.
