Deadly Rivalry: Notorious Bandit Leader Kachallah Auwalu Killed in Kaduna Forest Clash

A feared bandit leader, Kachallah Auwalu, has been killed following a fierce confrontation between rival armed groups in Birnin Gwari, according to security sources.

The violent encounter reportedly took place on April 18 around 4:35 p.m. in the Maganda forest corridor, an area long associated with recurring armed group activities.

Sources indicate that Auwalu was a key figure within one faction, wielding significant influence across Maganda, Kuyello, and Dogon Dawa.

The clash is believed to be part of an ongoing internal power struggle among competing criminal groups operating within the region’s forested enclaves.

Tensions between these factions have escalated in recent weeks, leading to repeated outbreaks of violence.

Field reports suggest that hostilities were still ongoing at the time the information was gathered, with indications that more casualties may have occurred, although details remain unconfirmed.

There are also reports that another faction, allegedly led by the notorious bandit commander Dogo Gide, was mobilizing toward the area, raising concerns about further escalation.

In response, troops under Sector 1 of Operation Fansan Yamma have been placed on high alert.

Security forces have been directed to closely monitor developments and act swiftly to contain the situation and prevent further violence.

Authorities have also intensified surveillance and intelligence operations across Birnin Gwari and nearby communities as part of broader efforts to restore stability and limit the movements of armed groups.
