Court grants interim forfeiture of Pretty Mike’s Lagos nightclub over alleged drug activities

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the temporary forfeiture of a nightclub owned by popular socialite and entertainer, Mike Nwalie, better known as Pretty Mike, following allegations that the premises were used for drug storage and distribution.

Justice Musa Kakaki issued the order on Tuesday after considering an ex parte application filed by counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Buhari Abdulahi.

The property, located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, and operated as Proxy Lagos Night Club, was alleged to have served as a storage and distribution hub for 169 cylinders (384.662 kilograms) of nitrous oxide—commonly referred to as laughing gas—and 200 grams of cannabis sativa.

According to the NDLEA, the facility is jointly owned by Pretty Mike and one Joachim Hillary, who purportedly used the venue to prepare for a “large-scale drug party.”

In an affidavit deposed to by Deputy Commander of Narcotics, Nasiru Garba Bungudu, the NDLEA stated that credible intelligence was received in October about planned drug activities at the club. Acting on the tip, operatives from the Lagos Strategic Command raided the premises around midnight on October 26, 2025, seizing the substances and arresting more than 200 individuals, including the two respondents.

Subsequent laboratory analysis confirmed the recovered items as controlled substances. The agency further alleged that the nightclub had a prior history of similar drug-related incidents involving the owners.

After examining the evidence, Justice Kakaki granted the NDLEA’s request for an interim forfeiture, ordering that the nightclub be handed over to the Federal Government and that all operations at the venue remain suspended pending further proceedings. The case was adjourned to January 28, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
