Cocoa Farmers Will Receive Maximum Support From Osun Government – Hon. Adewole

By ABIODUN JIMOH
The State of Osun Government has disclosed its readiness to support and put smile on the faces of cocoa farmers in the state to buttress Osun claim as an agrarian state.
Commissioner For Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Adedayo Adewole made this known during a meeting with cocoa farmers held in his office, state secretariat, Abere on Thursday.  The commissioner stated that the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola was passionate about the plight of the farmers in their inability to have food in abundance in the state. Also, explained that all their requests would be forwarded to the governor in due course.
He added that government as an institution cannot provide all their needs, but encouraged cocoa farmers to group themselves into cooperative societies through which they can assess funds in any available financial institution for proper propagation of their agric business.
Speaking earlier at the meeting, Ajibade Babatola sought for dividends of democracy under the leadership of governor Oyetola for the cocoa farmers in the state to have abundant cocoa seedlings available and affordable to make Osun number one cocoa producing state in Nigeria.
In the same vein, Andrew Ojo stressed that cocoa is a cash crop and urged the Department of Tree Crops Services to provide enough cocoa seedlings for farmers in the state to prevent them from traveling to Ibadan to buy seedlings.
He also urged the government to sell to the farmers at cheaper price being the only immediate and direct benefit that they as farmers can enjoy from government.
