Bala Gombe Fires Back at Kwankwaso, Insists “I’m 46” and Urges Older Politicians to Step Aside
A fresh war of words has erupted in the political space as Nafiu Bala Gombe has strongly rebuked former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, over comments regarding his age and role in party affairs.
In a fiery statement, Bala Gombe dismissed claims allegedly made by Kwankwaso that he is 35 years old, clarifying instead that he is 46 and urging the former governor to verify facts before making public assertions.
“Even if I were younger, Kwankwaso has no right to look down on me,” Bala Gombe said, noting that many of today’s political leaders rose to prominence at relatively young ages.
The political figure further called on older politicians to create space for younger leaders, arguing that the same opportunities they once benefited from should now be extended to a new generation.
“They should allow youths to steer the affairs of our parties and the country while they play advisory roles,” he stated.
Bala Gombe also launched a direct attack on Kwankwaso, describing him as an alleged mole of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He recalled events surrounding the 2023 general elections, claiming that Atiku Abubakar and other northern stakeholders had urged Kwankwaso to step down in the interest of regional political unity, a move he said Kwankwaso rejected.
According to Bala Gombe, Kwankwaso’s refusal at the time undermines any moral authority to comment on ongoing disputes within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He maintained that Kwankwaso is not a member of the party and therefore lacks the standing to intervene in its internal crisis, advising him to follow due process if he intends to join.
“I cannot be bullied by anyone,” Bala Gombe declared, reaffirming his position amid the ongoing leadership tensions within the ADC.
