Attack on Convoy: Ex-Justice Minister Appears Before DSS

Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has appeared before the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with the September 1, 2025, attack on his convoy in Kebbi State.
Malami, who served under the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari, confirmed on Tuesday that he responded to the DSS invitation as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident, which he described as politically motivated.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Malami stated:
“I can confirm that I have been invited by the Department of State Services (DSS) to support investigation over attack on my person and convoy in Kebbi State on the 1st of September, 2025.”
He suggested that the petition prompting the investigation may have originated from political rivals in the state.
Despite the circumstances, Malami praised the DSS for the way they have handled the matter:
“I must commend the DSS for the professional and transparent manner in which they have conducted their inquiry. I was treated with dignity and respect and I remain committed to cooperating fully with the Department to ensure that their investigation is concluded successfully.”
